After adding up the charity bids and the independent donations, we raised a total of $2,562 for the National Lung Cancer Partnership.

Thanks to everyone who donated items and participated in both the silent and live auctions.

If you are bringing an item for the charity auction, please reply with a brief description of what the item is. I'm typing up bid sheets this week and it would be great if we could get as many items as possible into our "system" ahead of time. Of course, we will certainly accept any additional items if you bring them with you at the last minute. But for those who already know for sure they are bringing something, a description and an opening bid (if you want to specify one) would be appreciated. Thanks!

Saving people, hunting things... the family business.

We know that one of the reasons Kripke selected Lawrence as the boys' hometown was its proximity to Stull cemetery... but what about the other reasons. What about the stories of murder and betrayal, the Civil War soldiers, the suicides, the lost loves... the ghosts.

Kazcon is offering a chance to be part of a guided tour of Lawrence, to see haunted buildings and hear the history of the town that is haunted enough to have produced the Winchesters.

The tour is run by Kansas Ghost Tours who have been conducting such tours in Topeka, Lawrence, and Kansas City for the last five years. In association with Paranormal Research Investigators (PRI)--who will be conducting a panel on Saturday depicting EMF and thermal imagining proof to back up the Friday night tour--the Kansas Ghost Tours has led groups through the process of discovering, debunking, and/or proving the existence of ghosts.

On Friday's tour, you will be picked up at the hotel by the tour bus, taken on a guided tour through Lawrence to see the following locations:

Eldridge Hotel
Brothel House
2 local cemeteries
The Hanging Bridge
Haskell Indian University
Governer's Mansion

At least four of the locations, you will be permitted to get out, explore, take pictures, etc. The tour will be approximately one hour and 45 mins. The cost of the tour is $16. Payment can be made when you pick up your registration packets at the con.

Join us for a fantastic time and follow up the experience with the Saturday panel.

We have updated the panels, including info on the paranormal investigation panel, and a new panel about Kansas Ghosts. Both panels will be hosted by the Paranormal Research investigators, who are based in the Kansas City/Lawrence area. This is also the group that will be hosting our ghost tour Friday night. More info on the ghost tour coming tomorrow.

We still need at least one volunteer to host the following panels. If we do not have volunteers by July 11th, we will open them up to folks who have expressed an interest in hosting them, but are already on two other panels. If you want to co-host a panel, you can still sign up for most of the other panels as well.
